Snow Day! Yippee? I don't think so...

This is a bit off the beaten path, but it was what occupied my day.
I spent most of my childhood in Colorado where snow was snow. Where I live near the coast in Oregon, snow is usually, meh. Whatever little bit of snow falls is washed away by rain within hours. Most of the time.
Not long ago, I cut down several trees that I feared would someday fall on our car. With that problem taken care of, I parked near the house without concern. Until this morning.
We were awaken in the night by the sounds of trees snapping, but we went back to sleep, knowing that no trees near the house might cause damage. Until they did.
Power failing at our house and in surrounding towns before breakfast added urgency to the day. The fact that I'd run out of bourbon the night before added a new dimension to that urgency.
