Reo Speedwagon was searching for songs to finish the album Hi Infidelity. Their backs were against the wall because they needed a hit or they would lose their record deal. One day guitarist Gary Richrath showed lead singer Kevin Cronin a song he thought was a throwaway. As soon as Kevin heard it. HE knew it would be the greatest opening line the band would ever write. Not only that... It would be the best opening line of the 80s and take the band into the stadiums. Take it On the Run became a top 5 smash and helped Hi Infidelity to 15 weeks at the #1 spot making the band a classic rock titan.
