Any and all challenges that Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has faced since 2017 have come from drivers of other teams. There are some who feel that this might change in 2022. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is one such person and he has now explained why as quoted by Sky Sports

Horner began by suggesting that Lewis will have more internal competition this year

“Lewis is going to be massively motivated this season but he’s going to have more competition internally”

“He’s got a hungry competitive young team-mate who is going to be snapping at his ankles”

He added how George Russell will be a big factor

“Life is not going to be getting easier for him, that’s for sure. George is going to be a big factor this year”

Horner summed up his words by suggesting that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff will have his hands full in 2022

“He has been blisteringly quick in all the junior categories, he’s one of the standout talents and dealing with his drivers will give Toto a headache this year”

“Let’s hope that by September the situation will change and we can throw ourselves back into the world of Formula 1 as usual”

The FIA has since confirmed that “No international/zone competition [is] to take place in Russia and Belarus, until further notice” [Official Statement]

“Russian/Belarusian drivers, individual competitors and officials to participate in international/zone competitions only in their neutral capacity and under the “FIA flag”
