How to Bent Arm Straddle Planche - 5 AMAZING Tips! (Calisthenics)
Learn how to bent arm planche with these 5 AMAZING tips!
The bent arm planche is an advanced calisthenics skill that takes a lot of chest, shoulder, and core strength to achieve. This video shows you exactly what you need to do to unlock the bent arm planche, plus all the best bent arm planche progressions you need to learn it as quickly and effectively as possible.
Here is a secret bonus tip for those of you who read the description of my videos hehehe:
In my opinion, the leaning forward dip (6:05) is BY FAR the BEST bent arm planche progression. The strength you gain by practising leaning froward dips translates incredibly well into the bent arm planche, so make sure you incorporate these into your training for the best results. Forward leaning dips are a very advanced dip variation, though, so make sure you build the strength necessary prior to trying them to perform them safely.
The bent arm planche - and all its progressions - are also awesome for building the chest and shoulder muscles. If you've seen my home chest workout video, then you would have seen that I started the workout with the bent arm planche and other bent arm planche progressions.
This is because they put the chest and shoulders under a lot of tension, which is great for building muscle. It's easy to scale up or scale down the intensity of bent arm planche progressions, too, so you could create an entire workout around them if you so pleased.
I know I use parallettes to perform the bent arm planche in this video, but don't worry if you don't have parallettes. It can still be learned on the floor. However, low parallettes DO make it easier to learn (as they give you a bit of extra elevation), so if you're learning the bent arm planche for the first time then I recommend getting yourself a pair of parallettes. It's a worthwhile investment, because you can also use them for other things like:
- Handstands
- Handstand push ups
- Push ups (and most push up variations)
- The planche (and all planche progressions)
- Etc.
Hope you enjoy the video and happy training!
