In this parallettes workout (intermediate), we start branching off into exercises that go beyond the basics (push ups, support holds and L-sits progressions) by focusing on achieving the L-sit to Bent Arm Stand transition. This was the first move I learned beyond the basics and I thought it would be a good introduction to intermediate parallettes training for you too. Plus, I received a comment on a recent video requesting that I explain how I trained for this move, so I figured why not :)

When it comes to parallettes, safety is very important. When you start working on inversions in any scenario but especially on a raised platform like parallettes and parallel bars, the risk of injury increases dramatically. So PLEASE make sure to train safely. I recommend using parallettes that are sturdy and one solid piece rather than parallettes that are easily disassembled. Also, do NOT try to learn this or any inversions on a dip station which are prone to tipping over.

Here's a quick break down of this intermediate parallettes routine. It's a "push" routine, meaning incorporate it on an upper body or push day if you're doing a split schedule:

Always start with a warm-up! (found in this video: https://youtu.be/3Y0Kb4b91c8)

Phase 1
• Modified Pendulums (5 sets, 5-8 reps)
• Pike Push-ups on Parallettes (5 sets, 8 reps)
• Full L-sit Hold (5 sets, max hold, target 15 sec.)

^once that's achieved, move on to...

Phase 2
• Modified Pendulum Hold (5 sets, max hold time)
• Decline Pike Push-ups on Parallettes (5 sets, 8 reps)
• Full L-sit Hold (5 sets, max hold, target 15 sec.)

^once that's achieved, you're ready to attempt the full move...

Phase 3
• L-Sit to Bent Arm Stand attempts (5+ sets)
• Decline Pike Push-ups on Parallettes (5 sets, 8 reps)
• Full L-sit Hold (5 sets, 15 sec.)

I hope you guys enjoy the workout :) Good luck nailing this move. It's harder than it looks. And stay tuned for more parallettes videos!
