Pauley Bridge: Pikeville, Kentucky - Once the "Bridge to Nowhere," I Find Out What is Across it Now
Pauley Bridge: Pikeville, Kentucky - Once Known as a "Bridge to Nowhere," I Find Out What is on the Other Side. The Pauley Bridge in Pikeville, Kentucky is a landmark that sits just outside the city. Built in 1936 with funds provided by the WPA (Works Progress Administration - an infrastructure program that was part of the New Deal agency established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt). It stretches across the Levisa Fork and has been converted into a pedestrian bridge. It is a fantastic spot for a photo op in daytime or at night. The towers on each end are made of beautiful sandstone, which adds to the bridge's charm and unique character. Just another pretty stop along these Appalachian highways.
