Thorpe was an old coal town that has been incorporated into the city of Gary, West Virginia in McDowell County. The Thorpe Cemetery is a great example f the true "Great American Melting Pot" of the Appalachian coalfields. All manner of races and ethnicities are buried in this small cemetery.
