So, my name is Cemal Karakas. I'm a pediatric neurologist. I am specialized in epilepsy disorder. So, I specifically love doing this because I feel like this is one of the most common conditions in neurology.

Whenever I see any patient with epilepsy, I know it's a pretty complicated condition and it may not be easy to understand, especially for kids. So, how I approach to my patients, I see them as a whole. And now I don't include only the patient in my treatment, I include the family as well because it's really important for the family to understand every single step of the treatment. So, I will go through every single detail so each steps when it comes to treatment of epilepsy. And anytime they have any question, I will try to approach everything in a very simplistic way, and try to have them understand.

I am originally from Turkey. I went to medical school in Turkey. Then, I came in USA I did my pediatrics residency and pediatric neurology fellowship in New York at SUNY downstate. And I did my clinical neurology in epilepsy fellowship in Texas at Texas Children Hospital. I like to spend some time with my family. I liked drawing and I liked writing poems, especially. And I have something called ney, it's a traditional flute, so I like to play that.
