Good morning, my name is Dr. Joseph Anthony O'Daniel. I'm an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction. And why I do it? I'm very passionate about orthopedics and hip and knee replacement in particular.

One of the things that we're focusing on now is same day surgery. We're actually pushing to have you come into the hospital, spend half a day or three quarters of a day with us and then you're able to go home later that evening. We have pain medication that we place into the joints that lasts for 48 to 72 hours and we believe that with the proper planning ahead of time, you can have a great outpatient joint experience.

I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky. I joined the Navy just after high school, went to the Naval Academy and served for five years, then had the opportunity to come back home to the University of Louisville for medical school. After medical school, I went back into the Navy for another 15 years. That took me to Washington, D.C., Several duties, stations overseas, eventually to Chicago and once I retired, I was able to come back home.

Well, I have three young children, so they're always providing entertainment and activities for me. I also enjoy running and swimming and reading.
