Bon Jovi | Live at Alsterdorfer Sporthalle | Hamburg 1989

If you like a good and powerful rock performance from the band's New Jersey era, you don't wanna miss this one! The band had been on tour over a year at that point and were more or less "walking dead" (and looking like zombies). Yet they went on to perform like each show would be their last almost on a nightly basis. I'm not sure if this recording has ever been around on here before, but I think this version is not only of better source quality, but also more complete (only cutting out on the last reprise of Bad Medicine). The drums had a very metallic feel to it, so that became the main issue to correct, but with adding some "tape-like" characteristics, it got to sound more warm and natural. As most of the frequent followers know, I prefer that feel over a sterile sound that relies too much on treble. Interesting enough, while many of the old recordings happen to fade in quality on the second half (due to the tapes or the older devices simply running out of battery life quicker), this one actually gains clarity in the second half.
