Bon Jovi | Live at Palacio de Deportes | Madrid 1993

Rounding out their crazy amount of high-octane shows in April 1993, Bon Jovi visited Spain at the end of April and the beginning of May. Their tight tour schedule lead to them doing three shows plus one TV performance in the span of just three days and essentially knocked Jon out. You can feel him running a bit out of fuel near the end here and, up until the concert in Paris five days later, he had to rest in bed with the shows in Bordeaux and Toulouse having gotten cancelled. During the following concert in Paris (video can be found on this channel), Jon actually thanked their tour promoter for "letting me stay in bed all week long". Before that was to take place, the band still gave their all for their Spanish fans in Madrid! This recording has been painstakingly speed corrected by a friend of mine who does these jobs with surgeon-like precision (thanks man!).
What I learned over the years was not to change the "DNA" or a recording. In this case, I think it originally was recorded in mono and had a very strong "old cassette" feel to it (not in a negative way!). I worked on a little more soundscape by adding slight effects to delay it on each channel and subtle noise removal as well as reworking a bit of clarity. The first part is much clearer and it gets a little more dull later on, but I feel it really has a strong charme to it that is quite enjoyable!
