-- I call it decolonized version of “Return to Innocence”
A real “Return to Innocence” -- the "real" means real original voice without modern instruments, return to innocence, a capella, pure chanting.

An older recording sung by husband and wife, Difang and Igay Duana, was “sampled” in “Return to Innocence” by Enigma
But they did not know it at first, and were not given credit, while Enigma made big money from it…

About “Return to Innocence”

Released in January 1994 as the lead single from their second album, The Cross of Changes
reached number one in over 10 countries 
Was the group’s biggest hit in the United States, reaching number two on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, number four on the Billboard Hot 100, and number six on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40.

The “Elder's Drinking Song” chant was used by Michael Cretu as the backbone for Enigma's Return to Innocence which went on to become one of Enigma's biggest selling singles. While the Amis People work hard farming to make a living…
Most importantly, it was their tribal traditional chant, but people who love “Return to Innocence” do not know about them…

The song was used to promote several types of media in the mid-1990s, including film and TV commercials. In autumn 1994, the song was featured in an episode of the TV show My So-Called Life. In 1995, the song was used as the closing theme in Disney's live-action film Man of the House, as well as in the opening and closing of an Outer Limits episode.
In 1996, the song was further popularised when it was used in a television advertisement to promote the 1996 Summer Olympics.
…And finally the Taiwanese found out about it…

Taiwanese started to seek justice for Difang and Igay Duana, whose Chinese last name is Kuo (Chinese is the official written language in Taiwan)

Colonization has different forms, and this is one of the cases…

With people’s encouragement and help, Difang and Igay Duana sued Cretu, Virgin Records, and a number of recording companies for the unauthorized use of their song without credit. The case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount of money and all further releases of the song were credited (including royalties) to Difang and Igay Duana. The lawsuit was late justice...

Later, Difang was able to form the Malan choir and produce albums for his tribe…

Difang died on March 29, 2002, and his wife, Igay died shortly thereafter, on May 16, 2002

1993年，來自歐洲不同國家的新紀元音樂風格音樂家在德國所組成的樂團「謎」（Enigma），無意間聽見阿美族傳統歌唱家 Difang Tuwana'（英語：Difang Duana／漢名：郭英男）和妻子 Igay （英語：Igay Duana／漢名：郭秀珠）受邀到法國演出錄製的歌曲《老人飲酒歌》，驚為天人，截錄原音，混合在他們的歌曲《返樸歸真》Return To Innocence中，專輯於1994年1月發行。

老人飲酒歌馬蘭阿美族稱之為sakatusa’ ku’edaway a radiw，直譯〈第二首長歌〉，為盛傳於阿美族人分佈地的南部區域，在坊間或文獻中亦常稱作〈飲酒歡樂歌〉、〈老人相聚歌〉、〈除草歌〉、〈豐年祭歌〉等。（資料來源為文化部台灣大百科）該曲的虛詞吟唱、複音合聲方式是阿美族特殊的音樂傳統，除了技巧，更需要默契，才能完美呈現。

《返樸歸真》一曲的銷售量超過百萬、風靡歐美，在十多個國家音樂排行榜中名列第一，聽過的人都能清楚地發現，老人飲酒歌佔此曲比重非常高、是該曲的主要元素之一。但是直到1996年位於美國亞特蘭大的第26屆夏季奧林匹克運動會使用《返樸歸真》做為宣傳曲，這首歌才在全球國際間更打響知名度，並且終於被台灣原住民注意到：這是我們的老人飲酒歌。謎樂團已經從《返樸歸真》一曲獲高額利潤，而台灣的阿美族人仍然過著純樸清檢的農耕生活，分文未得。更重要的是，當時全世界都以為這是謎樂團的創作，使該團聲名大噪，誰人知道這是沒沒無聞的阿美族的傳統天籟？

終於，由於魔岩唱片已經與馬蘭吟唱隊簽約要錄製專輯的，身為郭英男的唱片公司，滾石協助郭英男夫婦展開了這個與國際奧委會及唱片集團進行國際訴訟的任務，希望讓世人知道歌聲來自台東阿美族，唱片公司承諾將來將郭英男夫婦的名字列入該曲的演唱人和分享版稅，郭英男夫婦也獲得版稅賠償作為庭外和解金，魔岩唱片也協助郭英男夫婦把和解金成立「郭英男先生獎學金」。這起訴訟喚起一個智慧財產權的爭議問題：原住民傳唱數百年的古調，誰擁有版權？難道人人都可將音樂任意使用而從中獲利嗎？全世界對於原住民不公平的待遇，不僅僅是這一樁。
