Huge blue laser beam spotted lighting up the sky near Dundee baffles locals

SCOTS have been left baffled after a bright blue laser beam was spotted in the sky after a train passed through a station.

The clip was shared on social media by onlookers at Broughty Ferry train station.

The footage from a platform shows a beam in the distance lighting up the sky.

The New Measurement Train helps Network Rail measure the condition of rail tracks.

The blue beam which can be seen coming from the train is a laser sensor which gives information about the profile of the rail head, measuring shape and movement.
