Motorcycle Display Team, Shwet Ashw of Corps of Military Police | Army Day Parade 2020

The Motor Cycle Display Team of the Corps of Military Police, Popularly Known by the name “SHWET ASHW”, was raised in the year 1952 at the CMP Centre and School Faizabad (UP). The team was given the name “SHWET ASHW” by the Ex-Chief of Army Staff Late General A S Vaidya, Padam Vibhushan, PVSM, MVC, AVSM. 

In 1977 the team set out on its maiden tour out of Bangalore and performed in various parts of the country earning huge acclaim and recognition. The “ASWET ASHW” had the unique distinction of performing on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the IXth Asian Games at New Delhi in 1982 and during the closing ceremony of the VIIIth Asian Track and Field Meet also at New Delhi in 1989. The team also performed during the opening ceremony of World Beauty Pageant at Bangalore in 1995.

On the occasion of the Corps Golden Jubilee celebrations held at Bangalore on 22 Sep 1995, the “SHWET ASHW” created history and set a New World Record by carrying 133 men on 11 Motor Cycles, traversing a distance of 315 meters. Later, on the occasion of the Corps Diamond Jubilee, on 15 Oct 1999 at Bangalore, the “SHWET ASHWA” created yet another landmark by setting a New World Records carrying by setting a New World Record by carrying 151 men on 11 Motor Cycles, traversing a distance of 215 meters.
On the occasion of the seventh Reunion of the Corps on 30 Oct 2010 the SHWET ASHWA created a new world record by being the only team in the world to achieve a distance of 1000 meters with 48 persons on a single moving 500 cc Royal Enfield Motorcycle.

The `Shwet Ashw’, famed CMP Motor Cycle Display Team was specially selected to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Asiad in 1982. On the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the CMP on 15 Oct 1999 at Bangalore, the team created history by creating a new world record by carrying 151 men on 11 motor cycles and traversing a distance of 215 meters. Presently the team comprises of 02 JCOs and 31 OR.

Indian Army celebrated its 72nd Army Day on 15 Jan 2020. General MM Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, Chief of the Army Staff reviewed the Army Day Parade at the Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment and awarded Medals for individual acts of Gallantry and Unit Citations for commendable performance of their respective units. The 'Shwet Ashw, gave another spectacular display during this mega event.
