BHF Live & Ticking February 2023 – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Our online series of Live & Ticking events keep you updated with the latest BHF science taking place across the UK.

In this edition, we look at the BHF-funded research and work into how we can save more lives from out of hospital cardiac arrest by encouraging people to learn and perform CPR.

Event speakers:

Jenny Hargrave – BHF Director of Health Programmes hosts our Heart Month edition and highlights some of BHF’s work taking place across the UK.

Ruth Goss – BHF Senior Cardiac Nurse explains some of the causes of a cardiac arrest, the difference between a cardiac arrest and heart attack, and how you can save a life by learning CPR in just 15 minutes through our free RevivR™ online course.

Dr Barbara Farquharson – Researcher from University of Stirling discusses her BHF-funded investigations into whether adding behaviour change techniques to what emergency call handlers say over the phone could increase people’s confidence in performing CPR and save more lives.

Charlotte Mugliston – BHF Senior Research Engagement Officer moderates viewer questions and poses them to our expert panel of speakers.
