Backyard metal foundry (charcoal)

Based on Grant Thompson's version from The Kind of Random (TKOR). Check out his video at the following links (yes there's 2 listed, both very helpful):

I'm interested in processing scrap metal and casting some creations in the future. After watching many YouTube videos on the subject, I felt confident enough to spend some money on building one. This setup costed me around $100 total in materials. Subtract $40 from that if you take away the kaowool.

The following items (or similar) were used in this video:

6 gallon Behrens steel pail
3 parts play sand
3 parts Plaster of Paris
2.5 parts tap water
1" x 12" x 24" kaowool (ceramic fiber)
1" black steel pipe
1.5" pvc
1.5" pvc 45° elbow
1.5" to 1" reducer pvc
Empty yogurt containers (large ones by Yoplait)
goggles
vinyl or latex gloves
dust mask
duct tape (connect and seal steel pipe & pvc)
#3 graphite clay crucible (6kg)
charcoal (at least 8 lbs)
lighter fluid
aluminum cans or other source of aluminum scrap (at least 1 lb)
leaf blower or hair dryer
sturdy steel tongs (to handle a HOT crucible)
hear resistant gloves

Stay tuned for follow up videos and also my video on me making the crucible tongs (also TKOR-inspired)
