JAMIL HASANLI GOVERNMENT COULD NOT TOLERATE MY SPEECH

Azerbaijani government is in such a state that they can't stand a 6-minute speech of his opponent, the presidential candidate of the National Council, Jamil Hasanli said at a press conference on September 20 in the Media Center of IRFS.

Jamil Hasanli said provocations against him during presidential debates on Public Television (ITV) were expectable. "Some presidential candidates are part of the destructive activities of the authorities. The strategy is that the real opposition should always be a target, and the voters know nothing about the real situation," said Hasanli.

According to him, he has already appealed to the CEC, and also intends to appeal to court.

"I was insulted on ITV live, my airtime was cut. During my airtime they showed Hafiz Hajiyev. I will fight for the return of my illegally deprived airtime," said Jamil Hasanli.

He said if the television were independent, the current regime would have fallen after just one month's propaganda.

Jamil Hasanli recalled that his fight is not with Hafiz Hajiyev or others. "During the debate they began to talk about my family life. However, I was not talking about Hafiz Hajiyev, and I spoke of Ilham Aliyev. From now on, it will always be like that. I never interfere in someone's family affairs. I repeat that my opponent is and will be Ilham Aliyev," said Hasanli.

Hasanli also responded to the claim of Ali Ahmadov, presidential candidate Ilham Aliyev's representative, that he is disabled.

He admitted being a third group disabled, but added that this category of disabled people is allowed to work.

In 1987 Jamil Hasanli was operated on his left eye in Moscow, and artificial lens was inserted into it. After 10 years the lens had to be replaced. However, the operation was not made because Hasanli had diabetes. Then Jamil Hasanli was treated in the ophthalmology center named after Zarifa Aliyeva, and he was awarded a disability. "Medical Expert Commission has confirmed my ability to work," said Jamil Hasanli.

Well-known lawyer Aslan Ismayilov, who was participating in the event, expressed his support for the National Council and its single candidate Jamil Hasanli.

"I came to this decision after the illegal behaviors committed against him on the Public Television. I am calling on all the electorate to support Jamil Hasanli" Ismayilov said. "Hafiz Hajiyev is controlled by the Yeni Azerbaijan Party, everyone who has watched the debates can see this" he followed.

At the end of the event Jamil Hasanli's website (http://camilhasanli.com) was presented, campaign posters and booklets were demonstrated.

Chairman of the Public Relations Commission of the National Council, Mehman Aliyev said the 16-page booklet on election platform will soon be presented to the public.
