Peter Guralnick on the Musical Versatility of Dick Curless

Earlier this year, renowned music critic Peter Guralnick was joined by Jake Guralnick, who produced Dick Curless's final album "Traveling Through," to discuss Curless’s musical career and legacy.

In this clip, Peter Guralnick, who guest-curated the exhibition “Dick Curless: Hard Traveling Man From Maine,” talks Curless’s impressive range of musical influences. "Dick grew up with so many traditions," he says. From early country music icons like Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams to lesser-known regional acts, a broad range of influences contributed to Curless's versatility as an artist. Also, Chuck Mead, co-founder of country band BR549 and longtime Americana solo artist, performs in tribute to Curless.

This program was presented in support of the exhibition "Dick Curless: Hard Traveling Man From Maine."
