Adolf Hitler’s half-brother Alois had spent most of his life struggling to make ends meet; however being related to the most powerful man in Germany had helped change his fortunes by the mid 1930s.

The relationship between Alois and Adolf was strained, and despite living only 4 kilometres apart at the height of Hitler’s reign, the two seldom met.

Before starting his own business, Alois was the head waiter at the “Weinhaus Huth” at Potsdamer Platz, where according to author Wolf Thieme, his never ending stories about his brother were a constant source of irritation to customers.

It’s alleged that the Nazi party helped fund him when he set up his own restaurant at Wittenbergplatz 3 in 1937.
