The new Mauna Loa eruption started at 11:30 pm on Nov 27, 2022.
Short version.

The glow was easily seen from Kailua Kona, Hawaii.
The first flow to leave the summit area was about 25 miles to the south and heading to Oceanview subdivision.

Mauna Loa flows usually move quickly so everyone had to evacuate immediately.
In the clips where I'm zoomed in you can see the large A'a flow making its way downslope and numerous other flows further north.

Around 6:30 am and sunrise, the north and northeast flows broke out from the summit area.
They quickly dominated the activity and the Oceanview flow became subdued.

I shot with both of my Panasonic cameras.
The GH5 with the Leica 100-400mm (200-800mm 35mm equivalent) for all of the close-up clips and the G9 with the Lumix 8-18mm (16-36mm 35mm equivalent) or the 12-35mm (24-70mm equivalent) for all of the wide ones.

Interesting to see what tonight's activity brings.
