Horst Fischer, 'The High and the Mighty' (Dimitri Tiomkin)

Horst Fischer (1930-1986) was a German trumpeter, composer, arranger and bandleader. He is considered one of the greatest lead trumpeters of all time.

He interprets the beautiful ballad 'The High and The Mighty', main theme of the homonymous film.

'The High and The Mighty' is a 1954 American aviation disaster film, starred and co-produced by John Wayne (1907-1979).

The song was written by Dimitri Tiomkin (1894-1979), a Russian-born American film composer and conductor. He won an Oscar for Best Original Score for 'The High and the Mighty'. The lyrics were written by the American lyricist Ned Washington (1901-1976).
