This is the story of the first descent of the Amazon from its source to its mouth in 1950, a giant river that has the privilege of having two birthplaces as we shall discover. This is the story of a young and innocent man travelling the most remote corners of Peru and taking incredible risks in the terrible Pongos to achieve his dream of reaching the Atlantic and the ship that will take him home to England. This is the story of the love he developed for Peru and all the Peruvians who helped him in his quest.
