Today we are going to see a herb that is very readily available. We see it everywhere, even next to the railway line. It is not a tree but rather a bush, there are castor farms in Gujarat. They are for the oil that is removed from the seeds, as it is if you take four leaves, no one is going to stop you. Anyway it is best, if you can just grow your own castor bush, near your home, at some corner, even if there isn’t much space, it manages to grow and the leaves will be beneficial to all in the residential colony.

The fact is that with increasing age, the bones do get dried up. The joints too get stiff and hardened, this leads to discomfort and pain. Many are affected, almost all elderly people have this complaint. Women have the tendency of such problems as they are standing for longer time and their body mechanism is more prone to such ailments.

For this, there are these castor leaves called as Erand in Hindi. You shall soon see how effectively this herb works. All discomfort will be gone. If you use this well and keep your joints healthy, and if you eat nourishing food for the bones, then you shall keep all problems away. Let us see how to use this castor leaves. So this is Shanti oil, this is the Santulan oil, named as Shanti-peace literally, it doesn’t really burn. When a thing causes burning sensation, the pain is reduced by distraction due to burning, this oil doesn’t work like this. This oil, once it starts getting absorbed for 2-3 days, it reduces the pain, and it lubricates and gives relief. Yet when the pain is more, and also the age, we can use these castor leaves.

How do we use the castor leaves? Apply Shanti oil on the painful joint. Apply little oil on the leaf too and heat the leaf on the frying pan. Apply the heated leaf on the affected part, after little time, once again heat the leaf on the pan and re-apply on the affected joint. Fomenting the affected part like this will give relief. For more intense effect, crush the leaves by pounding, to make a ball of the crushed leaves, add a little Shanti and tie it in the cloth to make a potli, heat this potli and then foment the affected part. One more method is to apply this paste on the affected area, and tie a cloth bandage on it. See how the effect is...it is a home remedy, but once the pain goes, you have nothing to worry.

Also together, here is eranda mul, we can take this too. Method: take four cups of water and one cup of milk,(soak this errand mul piece in water overnight). Now bring this mixture to a boil and keep boiling on low flame until one cup remains. Sieve this mixture, add sugar according to taste and drink the milk. This is beneficial for diseases of the bones like osteoporosis and similar bone related problems. And those who have used this as a remedy and keep taking kharik-dry date milk regularly, then the bones will be flexible and elastic till a hundred years of age and you will be able to live a relaxed life.
