A retired FDNY Captain, Brenda Berkman helped pave the way for women to become FDNY firefighters. She responded on 9/11 and worked the recovery.

Cathy Langford lived and worked steps away from the World Trade Center. She witnessed the horrors of 9/11 from her apartment window and went into labor that day.
