We Were There, October 24, 2010

9/11 Family Member Rachel H. shares her personal story of September 11th in her 9/11 Tribute Museum presentation of "We Were There" onstage at the National September 11th Memorial Museum.

Rachel's husband Harvey was one of the 343 FDNY firefighters killed on 9/11. She had previously been engaged to a firefighter when she was younger, but he died in the line of duty. Thinking that there was no way that could happen again, she married Harvey. Rachel recounts her morning of 9/11, and the moment that she got a knock on her door telling her that Harvey would not be coming home. She speaks about the struggles that she faced having to become both the mom and dad for her children, and also her journey to normalcy after her world was turned upside down.
