5 Baby Seals Rescued from Rubbish

Rescue runs like this one are immensely stressful. Seals follow their herd instinct, they stick to the first seal that starts running away, even if they cannot see or smell the perceived predators themselves. It is impossible for the rescuers to stay unnoticed and sneak past hundreds of seals to get to the entangled individual. As soon as they are detected by the first one, the mass stampede begins as the animals fear for their lives and try to escape. To save one seal, hundreds of others have to be scared and chased away from the place they consider safe.
It would have been easier and more humane to keep the ocean clean and take the rubbish home!
