Dead Leaf Mantis Life Cycle

Deroplatys lobata has been in the US hobby on a regular basis since the 1990's. These mantises were originally imported from Malaysia. They do really well in captivity. The egg cases (oothecae) are easier to hatch out than many and breeding is pretty simple. The nymphs are very hardy with little die off. They start best on fruit flies but graduate to larger house flies easily by the 2nd instar (after the first shed/molt).
