Sheep Housing for Expanding Flock Again!

This video shows a brief overview of us setting up a second coverall to house another expansion to our sheep flock. Our sheep operation had 101 ewes and TODAY we will be adding in an additional 146 to our flock. This brings our sheep flock up to a total of 247 Ewes!

We worked very closely with Vets to ensure this transition went smoothly. The flock was purchased from a friend and we have knowledge on their set up and farming approaches so when we were approached by them to purchase their flock; we accept!

This was a very fast decision and therefore the coverall was not fully prepared for their arrival however by the time the last shipment of 46 animals arrived we had completed and prepared the space.

It is highly recommended that pregnant sheep are not transported especially close to their due dates. We therefore worked closely with the Farmer's Vet as well as our Vet and took all the necessary steps to ensure this relocation went smoothly and successfully without placing too much stress onto the sheep.

Each truck shipment transported 50 ewes total. Within the truck, there were 3 compartments allowing for adequate space and doors to ensure the sheep didn't become too close to one another. Prior to placing the sheep into the livestock trailer, we had pressure washed the interior to prevent any contamination and possibility in the flock becoming ill with SHIPPING FEVER.

Upon arrival into the coverall, sheep are housed together and 25' away from our flock of 101. The two flocks are to be kept seperate for 14 days to ensure their is no illnesses being spread throughout our operation.
