Abstract: Safeguarding language rights in critical services like healthcare, education, and crisis management also protects human lives, and ensuring linguistic justice has positive health impacts. In this panel discussion, four experts will discuss how language rights save lives, as part of a broader, worldwide discussion of this issue on Global Language Advocacy 2023. We will also launch the recently published Handbook of Linguistic Human Rights, a landmark publication exploring the intersection of human rights and languages. The two editors of this book will join us, along with two contributors to the volume.
