Find out more at https://www.soas.ac.uk/courseunits/155903008.html
The module is designed on the one hand to develop and consolidate the receptive and productive skills of students through using sound channels and their analytical abilities, and on the other hand to further develop their Chinese linguistic and cultural knowledge. By setting up situations and providing opportunities to use the target language to communicate in class, students will develop their communicative competence through completing practical tasks, such as describing, narrating, discussing, giving presentations and debating (speaking skill), together with summarizing and discussing the contents in the target language after watching or listening to artificial and authentic programmes (listening skill).
At the end of the module, students should be able to express themselves orally on various subjects in various language situations using the appropriate vocabulary, correct grammar and accurate sentence patterns, with reasonable pronunciation, control of tones and speaking speed. They should also be able to understand the key meaning while watching and listening to programmes made for Chinese native speakers.
