This is F&cking Awesome

My glider was away for its annual maintenance so it was the perfect opportunity to hire our club's DG505 and hopefully broaden the horizons of one of our pre-cross country pilots with a ridge task at Nympsfield. Trevor Stuart in 621 took up the challenge to lead the North Hill gang of Pete in 230, JB in KJW with Rowan and I in JZK, on the task which if the forecast held would encompass the south run to Bath and the north run to LCL. A separate group of Steve, Rob and Greg in their LS4's were also attempting the task.
Needless to say that the weather hadn't read the forecast and the wind backed instead of veering and we were soon stuck very low and south of the M4 and by more luck than anything else managed to hang on and scratch our way back to Nym. Trevor and JB breezed around Bath and Pete eventually clawed his way up to a comfortable height to make the turn point. Back at NYM the local ridges were working well and we had some fun whizzing past the trees.

Rowan summed up the trip perfectly when he said, "This is f@$king awesome!, I didn't know gliders could do this"
