As per your requests, this video is for people who can't squat deep yet and would like to still be able to do the test the water drill we demonstrated last week.

Why can't you squat deep?

Is it due to core weakness?

Perhaps lack of stability in your lower body …?

Rad and I are often asked this question. The truth is, the inability to squat deep has little to do with core strength (or weakness) …and more to do with the length and tension relationship of muscles in your hips, knees and ankles.

Sure, core and abdominal muscles play a role in your squat. But weak (and/or tight) quads, glutes, hip flexors, hamstrings and calves play a bigger role.

In today's episode of Unity-V Live Rad takes you out onto the gym floor to teach you a beginner version of the test the water drill which was a part of our "Best Hip Mobility Exercises" video series.

The exercises in today's demonstration are mostly derived from traditional kung fu.
