BURNING EXPERIMENT RESULTS

In this experiment we are burning wood in a small coffee can and pulling the burn gasses through a water bath. I mistakenly said 50 pounds of water in the video. We actually started with 40 pounds in the tank. This was about 4.5 gallons. The end result was 39.3 gallons left in the tank. The water turned brown and smelled of smoke and had an oily residue with surprisingly little sedimentation. The temperature of the water was 72 F to begin with and achieved a maximum temperature of 109 over a 5 minute period. At that point the aluminum ring connecting the can to the steel piping melted and air from outside the can was being pulled into the water and began to cool the water bath.
