Tatra Mountains (Poland) - Hiking Czerwone Wierchy (Red Peaks) iconic Ridge
Our days started in Zakopane boarding a small local minibus to Kuznice. The stop is right at the foot of the mountain, near the cable car which, if you wish so, can be taken all the way to the top where the actual ridge starts.
Even though it was misty and cold we decided to take the well marked path uphill.
The view is said to be breathtaking, but since we were in the clouds for most of the day, we'll have to take other's word for it. The ridge is well marked and the path clear with not much difficulty. Exposed at times but that's pretty much it. There are several junctions on the way that lead to the bottom valley in case of bad weather. The four peaks over 2000m are meant to offer a 360degree view over Tatra Mt. but again, clouds didn't seem to lift. We did get to stand with one foot in Poland and other in Slovakia as the ridge also marks part of the border between the countries.
After the last peak, Ciemniak, we start our descent back to the valley and under the clouds from where we could finally see the nearby villages and hills. The last stretch is a wide unpaved road that leads to Kiry from where we decided to walk back to Zakopane having missed the bus.
