How to Repair a Stuck Vent HVAC Actuator on a Honda Pilot
How to repair a stuck vent actuator on a second-generation Honda Pilot. This is a 2011 model. A sticking actuator will prevent you from selecting which vents the air comes from. So for example it may be stuck on the defrost, on your feet, or through the middle dash vents. In the worst case scenario, you may be stuck with replacing the actuator. However this method may work for you and it’ll end up saving you money and time on the replacement. #teslong #hondapilot #honda

Tools/Supplies Needed:
-borescope
-silicone plastic safe lubricant
-standard screwdriver
Procedure:
First is dropping down the glove box. Simply squish in the sides and then pull it straight down.
You may be able to fit a standard screwdriver in there and then work the linkage back and forth while operating the control panel for the HVAC settings with the ignition on. When the ignition is on, this will power up the system so it’s operational.
If you find it still having problems, then applying a lubricant spray would be the next option. I used a food-safe silicone spray, which is safe for plastics. You’ll want a spray that is safe for plastic so it doesn’t cause any future problems.
Then continue to operate the actuator linkage, eventually that lubricant will work its way in and then it’ll start functioning as it should. I did this repair about eight months ago and haven’t had an issue since.
Once done, clip the glove box back into place and you’re officially done.
