LaRayia Gaston’s unwavering inner compass and infectious sense of abundance has accompanied her through a childhood of physical abuse and the 3 periods of homelessness that followed her decision to leave home out of radical self-love at 16. LaRayia’s mindset is that scarcity doesn’t come from what you do or don’t have, but how you view what you have. In some of her darkest days, even if she was living in her car, LaRayia felt connected to a sense of gratitude and the understanding that someone else who might have it worse than her could be praying for her position. When LaRayia had $100 to her name, she would give $20 away to someone more in need. In a rock bottom moment, this attitude found LaRayia’s empty bank account miraculously filled with a $20,000 gift from the universe that propelled her out of homelessness for good and into her calling to revolutionize the nonprofit world with Lunch on Me, the organization LaRayia started that now distributes 10,000 free vegan meals a month (of the quality she would feed her own family) for those who are in need.
“No moments are guaranteed... And what do you do with that? You honor it, you show up for it. You marvel in it. If you focus on what you can change, then everything else self-organizes. There are a lot of things that are out of my control, and I've had to learn to have peace within that. But what I am in control of, I don't want to drop the ball, and that's growing and elevating and showing up and healing and allowing others to benefit from that work”
