How To Use A 🚴‍♀️ Stationary Bike 🚴‍♀️ After A Total Knee Replacement

An upright stationary bike can be used to improve range of motion while also improving strength and endurance after a total knee replacement. Riding a stationary bike allows you to control the seat height and distances from the pedals depending on your available range of motion.

An exercise bike can be used the first day after surgery and patients will typically begin with pedal rocks before progressing to a full revolution. Frequent, short episodes of riding are preferred. Between 2 and 5 minutes are ideal to loosen your knee without exhausting the rider.
