Future National Park at Cape Froward

Our cofounder Kristine Tompkins met Chilean President Boric to create a new National Park project in Magallanes!

Along with Carolina Morgado (Executive Director) and Ingrid Espinoza (Conservation Director), our cofounder Kristine Tompkins met with President Gabriel Boric to offer the donation of 93,000 hectares to the State of Chile to trigger the creation of a future National Park at Cabo Froward. They expressed their desire to see this rich territory protected under the national park category, considering in the process all the territory's actors, especially the area's indigenous communities, since it is the ancestral territory of the Kawésqar people.

This new national park will be the first for the commune of Punta Arenas!
