How to install Windows 11 from USB on Laptop or New PC (Best Method)

Installing Windows 11 from a USB drive involves preparing a bootable USB, configuring BIOS/UEFI settings, performing a clean (or upgrade) installation, and completing post-installation updates for a fully functional system

Step 1: Prepare Your Computer and Backup Data
Check system requirements: Ensure your PC has a 64-bit processor, at least 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, UEFI firmware with Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, DirectX 12-compatible graphics, and a display over 9 inches at 720p

Use Microsoft’s PC Health Check app to confirm compatibility.
Backup your data: A clean installation will erase everything on the installation drive. Save personal files, documents, photos, and app licenses to an external drive or cloud storage. Consider creating a full system image for easy restoration

Step 2: Create a Bootable Windows 11 USB Drive
Download the ISO or Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s official website.
Run the Media Creation Tool: Select “Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC,” then choose language, edition, and 64-bit architecture

Select USB flash drive: Insert a blank USB with at least 8GB storage. The tool will format and make the USB bootable. Ensure you back up any data on the USB first

Alternative tools like Rufus allow bypassing TPM or Secure Boot restrictions on unsupported computers

Step 3: Boot From the USB Drive

Step 4: Install Windows 11

Follow on-screen instructions: Windows Setup will copy files, install the OS, and restart several times. Complete the initial setup (user account, network, region, privacy settings).

Step 5: Post-Installation Setup

Install drivers: Use Windows Update or download drivers from the manufacturer’s website to ensure proper hardware functionality

Restore your files: Transfer your backup files from external storage or sign into OneDrive for cloud restoration

Activate Windows: Go to Settings Update & Security Activation if not activated automatically.
