Ameya Okamoto b. 2000 is a multidisciplinary artist, nail tech and content creator whose creative work lives at the intersections of art and social justice. Using accessible materials, she curates workshops and art actions, creating opportunities for group healing in public spaces through the collaborative processing of violence, memorialization, and generational trauma. Her personal practice turns the creative lens inward, exploring the artist's core identities through painting and diaristic documentation shared via her popular social media accounts. She is also a licensed nail technician, known for creating conceptually-driven nail art and ceramic sculptures negotiating the relationship between pop culture and Asian American visibility and exploring universal themes of identity, status, exploitation, and the impact of forced migration on body politics. Her work has been profiled by Instagram, Paper Magazine, NPR, New York Post, CBS News Chicago and Hyperallergic among others.
