Wear Out Climate Change: Make a Boxy Tee (part 1)

What is Slow Fashion? What does it mean when fabric is ethical or sustainable? Learn how to source environmentally-friendly materials and use them to draft a simple boxy shirt pattern to your measurements. You will learn how to cut out patterns to fit and use basic sewing techniques to construct a shirt. A sewing machine is recommended but not necessary.

For this tutorial, you will need:
- measuring tape
- paper, approximately 30" x 30" (old wrapping paper, brown paper, newsprint taped together are good options)
- pen or pencil
- 2 yards of fabric (2-way stretch, like a knit jersey works best)
- fabric marking tool (colored pencils work great)
- scissors
- pins
- sewing machine or hand-sewing needle
- thread

Optional:
- serger
- 24-36” ruler
