Engineering A Kinetic Sculpture in Solidworks - Design for 3D Printing - String Powered Sine Wave

Day 2 of the String Powered Sine Wave Project!

Today I have moved from the physical space to the CAD environment, which is Solidworks. First I use the surface modelling technique to build a centre column for the structure. This serves as a secondary design concept which may or may not be used moving forward. Everything is designed with 3D printing in mind, so I test my designs in the slicer to determine whether or not they are optimized for 3D Printing.

Secondly, I switch into mechanical engineer mode to continue work on the gearbox that will drive the sculpture. More work needs to be done here. Keep checking in to see the progress!

Live process streams run Monday-Friday from 12-2pm EST
