Great moments in Engineering ep. 1 #shorts

It’s not always easy to design mechanical systems, especially when they’re quite small and designed specifically to be 3D printed. This is a small part of a larger project which uses over 15 different mechanical components on its own. It’s a hinge, but its so much more than a hinge- it’s the result of trying different designs to find the best fit for the overall project. After mocking up 6 different hinge designs, I decided to go with this one because I liked the way the door opens vertically and gets out of the way completely leaving the opening clear. In the larger project this will have a servo and gear attached so it can be opened and close via and arduino.
