A thick blanket of smog covered Delhi and surrounding areas on Saturday morning, drastically reducing visibility and air quality across the region.

Residents woke up to a choking atmosphere, with pollution levels soaring to dangerous levels, turning the city into a gas chamber once again. Experts warn that the situation could worsen if weather conditions remain stagnant.

Environmentalists continue to raise concerns over rising vehicle emissions, crop residue burning, and industrial pollution, which together have pushed Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) into the “severe” category.
