Harvesting Inner Bark For Medicine
Hey guys in this video we harvest the inner bark of the White Pine for use in a medicinal tea that can be used as an expectorant by itself or with Mullein. Harvesting the inner bark for medicine off of any tree is a very easy process and just requires a knife and a little patience. The White Pine has many uses in herbal medicine from an expectorant to help heal cuts and to draw out splinters. The needles themselves can also be made into a tea, like we do with the inner bark.
To harvest the inner bark off a tree you have to know the difference between the outer bark and the inner bark, or cambium layer. It's also important to only harvest from young twigs as they are more effective. The inner bark can be used as a four season resource from most trees and woody shrubs which makes it an important skill to know.
