Giving Thanks to The Land

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I ask you this Thanksgiving to give thanks not only for your family, friends, or material things you enjoy, but to also give thanks to this Earth, give thanks to this Land, give thanks to God. Today I go to a spot where I gathered some Boneset this year and I give thanks to the land for the gifts it gave me this year. Giving thanks to the land is something that I feel many of us today overlook, and it is an integral part of foraging as well.

We all came from this earth. Whether we are plants, animal, rock, bacteria, whatever we all come from and return to the earth. Giving thanks is not reserved solely for this time of year, or any creed, or race. It is something that is for any day, and any person.

You can give thanks to the land many ways. By planting seeds, planting trees, spreading pollen and spores from mushrooms, ethical harvesting, giving something valuable, giving something sacred, or returning things to the earth.
