Special video: From a Loyal customer to a Loyal crew
We had planned to post another video for you this week but in light of the recent events, today’s video is specially dedicated to YOU, my Emirates Family.
Despite the many efforts of the Dubai based airline to protect jobs during this pandemic, the extension of border closures and the consequent impact to the business after grounding nearly all aircraft within the fleet, has led Emirates to start laying off many of their wonderful team members this week.
Many unhelpful speculations have been shared irresponsibly and with little respect through social media this week - and this video DOES NOT dwell in these.
I do believe it is safe to say that we all experienced some form of loss and suffering during this pandemic. Some of us were able to quickly pick ourselves back up, and some others not quite yet.
In the case of Emirates, I believe everyone is hurting this week. Firstly those who are leaving of course, then also those who are staying back in a very a different form of living without many of their friends and colleagues, and finally those who are leading this painful process - no leadership decision is harder than having to part ways with the people who helped them build their dream.
The message I have to my Emirates Family today is simple and rooted in what I myself had to learn navigating our last 3 months:
- the pain is real and we should never underestimate our own struggles or those of others;
- sharing our burdens builds new and deeper friendships. We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves and difficult times develop true and honest friendships, even from people who may have formerly been strangers;
- the joyful memories we have are such a great source of strength and laughter when our hearts need the most.
This video is to honor all of you at my Emirate Family, thank you for the wonderful and joyful memories you have given, and to offer my support to help anyone in need to navigate through these days.
