Free Museum in the Great Smokies | The Little River Railroad & Lumber Company Museum | How It Began

In Part 3 of our Elkmont Ghost Town vlog series, we head over to The Little River Railroad and Lumber Company Museum in Townsend Tennessee to unlock some more history revolving around the old Elkmont Ghost Town community of Eastern Tennessee.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to so much cool history and this little museum pack a big punch.

Tons of original railroad artifacts, historical photos and discoveries that correlate with the fascinating story behind how the Elkmont Ghost Town and some of its earliest known vacation resorts that resided deep in the Great Smokies.

We'll also discover some interesting museum artifacts that shed light on the Little River Railroad tracks that once cut through mountains of Tennessee...long before the formation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

We're going to Townsend, to take some time to further our exploration and knowledge of the Little River Rail Road and the Little River Lumber Company. W.B. Townsend’s successful logging outfit that cleared acres of forested Smoky Mountain hilltops in the early days of the Elkmont Ghost Town area, as well as other nearby mountain logging communities in Eastern Tennessee.
