James Gettys - The Man & The Legend
James Gettys is well known as the "founding father" of Gettysburg. But very few have explored his life and legacy. Born on August 14, 1759 near what would become "Gettysburg," he was an American Revolutionary War veteran, entrepreneur, and successful land developer. Gettys was a major figure in Adams County during the early days of its history and his impact on the community is still felt today. Join us as we separate fact from fiction and explore the life, legacy, and legend of James Gettys.
