408 WGW - The Church in the Philippines has a missionary role

The Republic of the Philippines has a Christian population of about 90%, most of them Catholic. Through the years, the Church has had a prominent role in the life and development of the country. A country of immense wealth in natural resources, yet unfortunately is marked with severe social and economic differences. There is a Muslim minority in the country, however it is concentrated in the Southern part of the archipelago in the regions of Mindanao, Palawan and Sulú.
